Constructor Adds Stripe Checkout Inside Its Onsite Shopping Agents
Constructor has launched Agentic Checkout, which puts Stripe payments inside the AI shopping agents that retailers run on their own sites and apps. A shopper can ask the agent for a recommendation, ask questions about a product, and pay in the same conversation.
What happens after an AI shopping agent finds the right product? On October 5, 2026, Constructor announced Agentic Checkout, an integration with Stripe that lets a shopper find a product and pay for it inside one agent conversation on a retailer’s site or app. Constructor says it is the first company to offer Stripe-powered checkout inside an onsite shopping agent, and the feature is available worldwide.
From Recommendation to Payment in One Conversation
The release describes the gap Agentic Checkout is meant to close. Four in 10 shoppers have used agentic shopping tools, according to Constructor, and those tools have focused on product discovery. When the shopper is ready to buy, the tool sends them back to a standard cart and checkout flow that sits apart from the conversation.
Constructor lays the new flow out in three steps.
- Discover. A shopper asks a broad question, such as “What should I wear to an outdoor fall wedding?” or “Can you help me plan quick, healthy dinners for my family this week?”, and gets personalized, in-stock recommendations.
- Decide. The shopper asks product questions, such as “Does this dress run true to size?” or “Are these tortillas gluten-free?”, and gets the details needed to choose.
- Buy. The shopper checks out and pays with Stripe inside the agent, without leaving the conversation.
Shoppers can pay with Link, the Stripe digital wallet, or with other payment methods. The release puts Link at 250 million customers and says 80% of them used a chat-based agent in the past month, while half use AI for shopping research at least monthly.
Where Agentic Checkout Is Live
Agentic Checkout is live in two Constructor agents. The AI Shopping Agent (ASA) takes a request in natural language and guides the shopper based on context, history and intent. The AI Product Insights Agent (PIA) answers product questions on product detail pages. Constructor says checkout will reach more touchpoints across retailers’ digital properties later this year.
Both agents run on Constructor’s Commerce Reasoning Engine, which learns from each shopper’s behavior across a retailer’s channels to make recommendations more relevant.
What Retailers Do to Turn It On
For a retailer running Constructor’s shopping agents, the release describes two steps. The retailer updates Constructor’s UI library and adds its Stripe credentials to the configuration. A retailer that does not use Stripe can enable Stripe-powered Agentic Checkout without changing its payment setup elsewhere on the site.
Constructor also reports that the number of companies deploying its AI agents grew 900% over the past year.
“The promise of agentic commerce is that a shopper can express what they need and AI can help them every step of the way, making every part of the journey easier, more helpful, and more enjoyable,” said Eli Finkelshteyn, CEO and co-founder of Constructor. “Delivering on that promise requires best-in-class discovery and then best-in-class checkout. Constructor has spent years focused on improving the discovery experience and helping shoppers find the right products, while Stripe has built world-class payments infrastructure that helps shoppers buy those products easily and securely. Together, we’re making agentic shopping more complete for consumers and more valuable for retailers.”
What Commerce Teams Can Take From the Launch
Agentic commerce coverage has centered on shoppers buying through outside assistants. Constructor’s launch covers the other location, the agent a retailer runs on its own site, where the retailer keeps the customer relationship, the catalog data and the order. A team evaluating an onsite agent can ask a vendor where the conversation ends, at a product link or at a paid order, and how the agent’s sales get measured against the standard checkout.
Constructor powers search and product discovery for retailers including Sephora, Petco and Under Armour. Talk Commerce has covered the company before, including its Merchant Intelligence Agent launch and its ranking in the Gartner Critical Capabilities report for search and product discovery.
